Story & Lesson Highlights with Gabe Treiyer of Celebration

We recently had the chance to connect with Gabe Treiyer and have shared our conversation below.

Gabe, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I wake up every day around 7 – 7:30 am, i make breakfast for my daughter, i drop her off at school, go to the gym, come back home and i lock up in my studio to learn songs for the next seesion, show or recording.
After my daughter goes out of school, i’m back to my father/husband role. Family comes ALWAYS first for me.
The show maybe could over tomorrow, but they will still be there. I’m a family man basically.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a professional guitarist & songwriter based in Orlando, FL. In recent years, I’ve toured with and served as the guitarist and band director for the “Icons of Rock” tour. I’ve also had the privilege of collaborating with many Grammy-winning and multi-platinum artists, including:

Bobby Kimball (TOTO) (six-time Grammy Award winner)

Dave Bickler (Survivor) (Grammy Award winner)

Jon Anderson (YES)

Fran Cosmo (Boston)

Steve Hackett (Genesis)

Steve Rothery (Marillion)

Jakko Jakszyk (King Crimson)

Bruce Kulick (KISS)

Johnny Edwards (Foreigner)

Wally Palmar (The Romantics)

Alex Ligertwood (Santana)

Paul Shortino (Quiet Riot)

Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake and Cher)

Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow / Deep Purple)

Monte Pittman (Madonna)

Gene Loves Jezebel & Country music stars as Colt Ford & Craig Campbell

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
It’s funny, because as native kid from Argentina, since i was 4 years old, i never wanted to become Maradona, astronaut, Formula 1 racer or Jedi.
I always said that i want to be a Rockstar and play with KISS!
So my path was forged since the beginning. Believe, it wasn’t a bed of roses to say the least. Everyone laughing at me because i had my sight on playing with the big names in Rock And Roll while i was on the other side of the world.
But lesson learned: never give up. The best is yet to come ALWAYS.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Don’t waste your time with people that don’t have the same goals and dreams as you.
That apply to band mates, peers, friends and partners.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yeah, there’s a bit more “outrageous” persona on stage because you’re doing a show and playing a role. Nobody wants to see the next door guy up there, but besides that, yeah, i’m the same guy.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I think when music chooses you, it’s not an option anymore. It’s hard to explain, because you become obsessed with it. In consequence you breathe and eat music 24/7. Nothing has changed in that sense ’til this very day.
I’m very blessed on doing this for a living also. So yes, i’m doing what i was born to do.
