Travis Hartman shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Travis , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
I wake up and immediately open up instagram and start looking for relevant boxing news that has happened over night or in different countries. I then scour all the local Orlando boxing scene and promoters.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a former USA Boxing amateur stand out with 170 amateur bouts and 13 losses. Then I turned professional back in 2004 at the age of 20. I have had 46 pro fights to date and have fought all over the world. I have been in the ring with the greats like Terence Crawford, Nonito Donaire, Anthony Dirrell, Chavez Jr., Jessie Vargas, Keith Thurman and many other world champs. I have been featured on HBO-PPV, ESPN, Fox Sports, Showtime TV and I have fought inside the famed Madison Square Garden in New York City as well as the historic BoardWalk Hall in New Jersey. I was fortunate enough to fight in France, Denmark, Germany, Canada and was in training camps in Australia and Germany. All the while I was a professional athlete I did go to college and before I graduated I landed a job as a sports journalist for a print Newspaper for 4 years. I also did a radio boxing show for many years out of California. With my lifelong experiences in competing in boxing, coaching in boxing, and promoting professional boxing, I decided to start a podcast called Weighing In With Travis Hartman in the summer of 2020.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I would have to say my father. It allowed me to love boxing and truly believe I could be anything I wanted to be. I would go as far as to say my pops believed in me so much it was a bit delusional looking back, but that’s exactly how you accomplish great things-self belief.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh gosh, yes. Now-a-days everyone has a podcast it seems. So in April of 2025 I sat down and tried to figure out what I really wanted with my podcast going forward. It had been almost 5 years of having the podcast but it was clearly stalling out and not really going anywhere. We had approximately 230,000 total views on YouTube over 5 years. And 40,000 of those views came from one interview with Terence Crawford. So I had to make some tough decisions and do some soul searching or stop doing the podcast all-together. So I spent some money, revamp and totally shifted the podcast to exactly what I wanted. As of today writing this I have 620,000 views. Over 300,000 in this last month alone!! Something is working and I’m not giving up.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Jesus Christ. Our lord and savior. I try my best every day to live up to his expectations. I come up short often but he is so great and understanding that he shows me grace and mercy.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
Having one more boxing match as a professional boxer.
