What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?

We wake up, get work, go back home and rinse and repeat – or at least it feels that way sometimes.  In truth, there are a million moments in between where we interact with others and we can’t help but wonder what folks will think about us once we aren’t showing up, perhaps once we are gone. Some very thoughtful members of the community share their thoughts on this with us below.

Paige Bond

I hope the legacy that I leave behind is the affirmation and knowledge that people don’t need to follow any societal script of what a relationship ‘should’ be. I hope that people are able to draw inspiration from my work and have the internal knowing that they can design whatever relationship they would like, as long as everyone involved is in full agreement. I hope people say I helped them wake up to what was possible. That I didn’t just talk about wealth but walked people through it. That I lived what I taught. That I was generous, curious, and always learning. I hope they say I didn’t settle. That I stopped the cycle of debt in my own life and helped others do the same. Read more >>>

I hope the story people tell about me is that I was persistent and never gave up, no matter how many challenges came my way. That I rose to those challenges with determination and heart, and that I always tried to make people smile or laugh—because I understood how important fun and laughter are in life. Read more >>>

My hope—my prayer—is that when I’m gone, people remember my legacy not as a name on a bestseller list or a face on a movie poster, but as someone who used her words, her wheelchair, and her unshakable faith to carve out spaces where others could finally breathe. Read more >>>
